Mother & Child.

The lazy Sunday afternoon was being spent at home. Standing in the balcony sipping a mug of coffee, I witnessed that lovely moment.

Two sparrows, one of which is a baby, nestle in the neighbouring compound. The older sparrow carries some fodder in its beak. She surrounds the younger one, waves a flutter, and carefully monitors for any harmful predators prior to feeding the baby. Her demeanor suggests her to be the mother while the baby waits patiently with her yawning beak. Then arrives the moment which is to be cherished. The mother pushes her own beak inside the baby's, depositing the food.

I continue to observe, and as the baby apetite is abated, the mother waves yet another a flutter! .. Pure love !!

So in the case with us humans. Children being nurtured by their mothers. Love in its purest form !!

I too know a mother who radiates love just like that elder sparrow.

The greatest blessing I've ever recieved.

And I call her 'Amma.'

Love,
Balu

I'm 36 and life's hard and full of struggles ever since my amma took her own life (she was forced to) 25 years ago. Words won't express what we motherless children go through, i wake up everyday, yes everyday in the middle of the night because my inner mind always thinks and longs for her. I have a few friends who, like you, adore their mothers - all i think while watching them is, they are lucky, not just because they have their moms but also they love and cherish them as well.

Diamond & Pearl,

I tried twice to leave to a comment in your blog, but for some strange reason I can't see it being displayed there. Seems some technical error.

I hope u are reading this, and I want you to convey this to the lovely little TJ, that she has a fan down the south in Kerala, who claps in admiration of her work :) Lovely drawings indeed :)

You can really be proud of your lil daughter :)

I loved the way you described this.In fact I too have always watched animals and their young ones and felt moved by a mother's selfless love.I have seen how Cats feed their young kittens without even moving for such long hours while the kittens feed and feed and feed.So too mama penguins, lions,Eagles--why the whole of animla kingdom.
Nicely expressed.
BTW--not all mothers are selfless.i know some very heartless and cruel ones too.

PS,

There may be rare exceptions, but exceptions can't be taken as examples.
